15km far from Ninh Binh City to the Northwest, the temple is situated in Gia Thang and Gia Tien Communes, Gia Vien District. This is a place built on the base of Vien Quang Pagoda put up by Nguyen Minh Khong in 1121. After his death, to memorize his contribution, Dam Xa people renovated Vien Quang Pagoda to Duc Thanh Nguyen Temple. Saint Nguyen Minh Khong was born on 15th October 1065. After his death (in 1141), he was given the title of National Monk of Ly dynasty due to his huge contribution to cure King Ly and people’s diseases and honored as a Saint. The temple faces the East on an area of around 2 arch and architecture method of “Tiềnnhất, hậucông” -Chinese letters. Tien Bai has five rooms and four rods. Its collar beam is made in “Thượng giường hạ kẻ” method. Exterior of the middle room lying a screen on which written four Chinese words “Thiên khải Thánh sinh” (Saint born from heaven).
